Our private group trip is fab for families too! Involving private use of two exceptionally good properties in Zambia’s finest safari areas, it guarantees a level of exclusivity and wildlife viewing that is really hard to beat. As well as having a private vehicle and guide enabling you to explore wherever you wish, you will have a private chef! Please note, the maximum number of persons each property can accommodate is eight.

The properties we use for this trip are Luangwa Safari House and Chongwe House. Luangwa Safari House is a gorgeous house situated in the Mfuwe region of the South Luangwa National Park. And Chongwe River House has a fabulous location on the banks of the Chongwe river, bordering the Lower Zambezi National Park. Both properties are very unique in design, with views that will take your breath away!

Days 1–4 South Luangwa National Park

On Day 1 of your trip, you will fly out to Mfuwe Airport and transfer by road to Luangwa Safari House. Situated in the South Luangwa National Park’s Mfuwe region, this property never fails to charm! Designed by architect Neil Rocher, the house has the look of a castle as you approach it inland, opening up on the opposite side to provide amazing views of a seasonal lagoon and the Chindeni Hills beyond. The communal areas include an enormous lounge, a plunge pool, and a terrace that links via a raised walkway to a wooden deck at the centre of the lagoon – this is fantastic for watching the local wildlife! Luangwa Safari House has four en-suite bedrooms, all very comfortable. Two on the ground floor have a private veranda each, while both rooms on the upper floor boast a balcony. Activities from this haven focus on game drives by day and by night, but walking safaris, seasonal boating, and village tours are also available. As you have your own vehicle and guide, you can decide how to spend your time on safari each day. A few wildlife highlights here are lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, and over 450 bird species!

Days 5–8 Lower Zambezi National Park

The second part of your trip is spent in the Lower Zambezi National Park – you will fly here from Mfuwe. Chongwe River House is positioned on a peaceful stretch of the Chongwe river, with lovely river views and spectacular vistas of the mountainous escarpment beyond. This is another property with plenty of wow factor – its frame is wild wood, its walls are ferro-cement, and the ceilings are studded with colourful river pebbles! All communal areas are comfortable and spacious. The open-plan lounge, dining room, and bar areas are also open fronted, flowing through to a deck with swimming pool. From here, you can enjoy sights of elephants crossing the river, as well as various antelopes stopping by to quench their thirst. There are four en-suite bedrooms at Chongwe River House, all very well appointed and very much contributing to the intrigue of the House’s design! As at Luangwa, you have your own vehicle and guide. Activities offered include game drives, river safaris, canoeing, walking, and fishing. The bird life is particularly brilliant!

On Day 9, you will transfer to the Lower Zambezi National Park and fly to Lusaka to connect on to your international flight home.
