Days 1-4 South Luangwa National Park (Mfuwe)

201003 RPS 664

On the first day of your adventure, you will fly out to Mfuwe, to Nkwali Camp. This camp is situated on the banks of the River Luangwa, within a private reserve. An open-sided timber, stone, and thatch structure contains most of the communal areas, including the lounge, library, and bar. The atmosphere is very friendly, and the views are superb! Nkwali also has a thatched dining space and a spacious swimming pool surrounded by sunloungers. You will stay in one of six en-suite bamboo-and-thatch chalets. All chalets are open fronted, so you can relax together and marvel at scenes of elephant crossing the river without even leaving your room! The area around camp often plays host to lion, leopard, and wild dog too. Nkwali offers great game drives and walking safaris. The camp’s own pontoon takes you into the South Luangwa, and you can expect to see numerous predators and herbivores. The birdlife is brilliant! And you can also visit the local market and enjoy a village tour.

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, all safari activities, and a laundry service.

Nsefu 01

On Day 5, you will board a boat and set off for Nsefu Camp! This is an exhilarating journey, as you experience all the beauty of the River Luangwa and its wildlife. The camp, the oldest in the South Luangwa, is set on a sweeping meander of the river and boasts incredibly good views! Positioned next to an immense termite mound, the communal lodge has a pleasingly rustic style. Its interiors include a comfortable lounge and bar, while outside there is a hide overlooking a lagoon. The hide is perfect for keen photographers, offering opportunities to take close-ups of elephant and waterbuck! Other activities available at Nsefu are day and night game drives, and walking safaris. The local wildlife features lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, giraffe, hippo, and over 450 types of bird! You can also enjoy cultural tours. While you are here, you will stay in one of six rondavels. Constructed from concrete, these are simply yet appealingly furnished, with well-appointed en-suite facilities.
