Days 1–2 Victoria Falls

GBP Stanley2013 1005

You begin the trip in Victoria Falls, with two nights at Stanley Safari Lodge, which is only 3 kilometres from the Falls. The lodge has great views of the ‘smoke’ from the Falls, as it is perched up on a hill. There is a mix of open- and closed-fronted suites to choose from.

Board basis and activities:
Stanley Safari Lodge is booked on a fully inclusive basis with all meals, local beverages, and selected lodge activities included. The activities in the area are endless, from adrenaline-focused bungee jumping to white water rafting to just a gentle sunset cruise along the river.

Days 3–4 South Luangwa – Nkwali

RPS 2012 09 151e

From Livingstone, it is a flight to Lusaka and then on to Mfuwe for a two-night stay at Nkwali Camp, which is the main base for Robin Pope Safaris. The camp is located on the banks of the Luangwa river. There are amazing river views and often wildlife is spotted from the property.

Board basis and activities:
The camp is booked on an all-inclusive basis, which includes all your drinks, meals, and shared safari activities. The activities are usually focused on game drives in this area, although walking is also offered. There's a village tour too, which is well worth doing! If you happen to be visiting during the ‘emerald’ season then boating is also possible.

Days 5–7 South Luangwa – Nsefu Camp

Nsefu 01

For the next three days, you will transfer into the northern section of the South Luangwa to the remote Nsefu sector, where Nsefu Camp is located. The camp is still the original camp that Robin Pope used to work for, and it was built in 1951. It has one of the best locations in the park, and instead of tents or reed chalets this quirky camp has just six rondavels with thatch roofs.

Board basis and activities:
Just like Nkwali, Nsefu is booked on a fully inclusive basis with all meals, local beverages, and scheduled safari activities included. Activities are mainly focused on morning walks and afternoon/night game drives.

Days 8–11 Lower Zambezi

Chongwe camp 2015 45

From the South Luangwa, you will transfer back to Mfuwe Airport for your 2-hour flight to the Lower Zambezi. Chongwe River Camp is located on the confluence of the Zambezi and the Chongwe rivers, and it offers incredible river views. We love the Lower Zambezi as it provides a really nice change in activities – you can focus a bit more on boat safaris, fishing, and canoeing here. This is one of the best areas in Africa for tiger fishing.

Board basis and activities:
Keeping in line with the other camps in this itinerary, Chongwe River Camp includes all your drinks, meals, and scheduled game activities. Your activities are always discussed with you on arrival so you can plan them with your guide. You will have the choice of game drives, bush walks, boating safaris, fishing, and canoeing.

On Day 12, you will fly back to Lusaka in time for your international flight home.
