This trip begins in Entebbe, the gateway city to Uganda’s most thrilling destinations. It moves on to Murchison Falls National Park and the Budongo Forest Reserve before ending spectacularly in Bwindi, home to majestic mountain gorillas!

Once you’ve arrived in Entebbe, you’ll stay at Karibu Entebbe, a boutique hotel just 10 minutes’ drive from the city’s airport. Situated in a serene suburb, Karibu is ideal for a night to relax and refresh before heading off on safari. Next, you’ll travel to Murchison Falls National Park, to Murchison River Lodge. This is a comfortable option on the south bank of the River Nile. After that, you’ll head back to Karibu via the Budongo Forest Reserve. And the final part of your trip is spent at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge, within Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Fabulously located on Nteko Ridge, overlooking the park, Nkuringo provides excellent accommodation and a great range of activities too.

While at Karibu, you’ll have access to the hotel’s lovely communal areas, including its gardens and swimming pool! From Murchison River Lodge, you can enjoy rhino tracking within the private non-profit ZIWA Rhino Sanctuary, sunset cruises on the Nile, excursions on the Nile delta, and game drives. On your way back to Entebbe, you’ll go chimpanzee trekking in the Budongo Forest Reserve! Lastly, from Nkuringo, you’ll have a wonderfully wild time gorilla trekking, hiking, and canoeing, with many other activities available.

Please note for family travel the minimum age for Gorilla trekking is 15. Younger children can still accompany their parents and older siblings however, as there are plenty of other activities that can be arranged in and around Bwindi.

Day 1 Entebbe

On Day 1 of your trip, you’ll touch down at Entebbe International Airport and transfer by road to Karibu Entebbe. This property is well set up for a peaceful stopover before you start your safari tour. Its communal facilities include a pleasant lounge, chic restaurant, and well-stocked bar. You can take a stroll in the gardens and enjoy a refreshing dip in the swimming pool, which features in-built seating, a floating table, and a rock waterfall! Karibu has seven en-suite rooms, with either garden or lake-and-garden views. All rooms offer double bed or twin beds, a seating area, and well-appointed en-suite facilities – and some include double doors out onto a patio. The hotel’s gardens are full of beautiful birds, so you could certainly fit in a little birdwatching during your stay! (*v*)

Days 2-4 MURCHISON FALLS NATIONAL PARK

After your night in Entebbe, you’ll transfer by road to Murchison Falls National Park, for your stay at Murchison River Lodge. Your accommodation here will be a thatched cottage, the most comfortable and spacious option available. Each cottage has two floors – on ground level there are twin beds, while the mezzanine area has a double. There’s a smart shower room, as well as a wide veranda with sofa, hammock, and superb bush views! The lodge itself contains an open-plan restaurant and bar, a shop stocking gifts and essential items, and two swimming pools. From this comfy base, you’ll enjoy rhino tracking within the private non-profit ZIWA Rhino Sanctuary, sunset cruises on the Nile, excursions on the Nile delta, and game drives. The river is home to Nile crocodile, hippo, and plenty of waterbirds, while big game including elephant and buffalo are often spotted on the banks, quenching their thirst.

Day 5 BUDONGO FOREST RESERVE

On the fifth day of your adventure, you’ll return by road to Karibu Entebbe – and on the way, you’ll visit Budongo Forest Reserve! Here, you’ll take part in a chimp trek. The reserve boasts six habituated groups, and an expert guide will lead you through the forest to find them. There’s ample other wildlife to observe too, such as baboons, blue monkey, and the striking black-and-white colobus monkey. Once again, Karibu provides a relaxing stopover stay.

Days 6-8 BWINDI IMPENETRABLE NATIONAL PARK

The last part of your trip is spent at Nkuringo Bwindi Gorilla Lodge – you’ll transfer by air here from Entebbe. Once a campsite, today Nkuringo is based around its well-equipped communal lodge, which contains a charming lounge, restaurant, bar, and coffee shop. There are tranquil gardens too, and a spa offering massages and other tempting treatments in between activities! The main activity here is gorilla treks, comprising a regular trek and a very exciting habituation experience. These take place on the Nkuringo hillside and in Rushaga, and they’re led by highly knowledgeable guides. The regular trek involves an hour of observing the magnificent mammals in their natural habitat, whereas the habituation experience allows four hours! Guests can also enjoy forest hikes, featuring wildlife highlights such as red-tailed monkey, black-and-white colobus monkey, and ample birds. You can go canoeing too, and try out all sorts of extra activities – a Batwa cultural experience, village visits, and local village tours (at additional cost).

On the final day of your adventure, you’ll return to Entebbe via air transfer, in time for your international flight/s home.
