TWC10_0043.jpg

On Day 1 of your family trip, you’ll touch down at Kilimanjaro International Airport, receiving a VIP Meet and Greet. From here, you’ll fly to Lake Manyara Airport and transfer by road to Tloma Lodge. This property has a commanding position on the Ngorongoro Crater’s eastern wall. It overlooks a coffee plantation, as well as its own garden grounds. Built in the colonial style, the main lodge is spacious, with a very comfy dining room and lounge. Outside, there is a big swimming pool, perfect for a splash-about! The guest accommodation at Tloma includes four interconnecting rooms. All have big beds, mosquito nets, a fireplace, well-appointed en-suite facilities, and a private veranda with amazing views of the Ngorongoro Highlands. During your second day here, you’ll head down into the Ngorongoro Crater for a game drive. The crater contains a real wealth of wildlife, not least all Big Five – lion, rhino, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! You can also look out for numerous smaller predators and herbivores, and oodles of birdlife. Additional activities include guided walks in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, guided farm walks, village walks, and a trip to the local waterfall.

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including three meals daily and possible cultural visits to meet the local Maasai.

Days 3–5 The Serengeti

Lemala-Mara-migration.jpg

On your third day, you’ll leave Tloma Lodge in the company of your private guide, who’ll drive you back to Lake Manyara Airport. You’ll fly to the North Serengeti’s Kogatende Airstrip, and have a shared transfer to Lemala Mara, a mobile camp. Operating in the northern region of the park from July through to November, this property is both adventurous and comfortable. It has breathtaking views over a well-known wildebeest crossing point, so even before you set off on game drives you’ll see plenty of animal action! As well as the huge herds of herbivores, there are loads of predators too. We’ve chosen this property for our family trip as it has the very cool ‘Lemala Cubs Club’, offering lots of ace activities for children. These include spotting the local wildlife with the help of a handy checklist, enjoying archery in the camp’s grounds, and taking part in nature walks around camp with the local Maasai. And there’s an excellent two-bedroom family tent for you, complete with well-appointed en-suite facilities and private veranda.

Board basis and activities:
All-inclusive accommodation, featuring three meals daily, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, twice-daily guided game drives, transfers between the lodge and Lake Manyara Airport, access to Wi-Fi, and a laundry service.

You can sit back and enjoy views of the lush gardens, or have fun playing in the hotel’s spacious swimming pool! It’s also great to be so close to the beach, where you can build sandcastles, sunbathe, and enjoy a dip in the sparkling turquoise waters. You’ll stay in a beachfront room, which accommodates two adults and two children aged 4 to 11 years, and includes a smart shower room and a shady veranda with lovely ocean views!
