This trip is great value for a small group of friends travelling together! It begins in the heart of Cape Town, where you have excellent access to all the highlights of this vibrant city. Subsequently it moves on to two superb safari areas. Both the Sabi Sand and Timbavati Game Reserves contain a wealth of wildlife!

The properties we use for this trip are The Clarendon Fresnaye, Idube Game Lodge, and Simbavati River Lodge. The Clarendon Fresnaye is a luxurious property with beautiful ocean views in a quiet suburb of the Mother City. A private concession within the Sabi Sand Game Reserve is the location of Idube Game Lodge, which offers some first-class safari activities! Finally, Simbavati River Lodge provides very comfortable accommodation in the northern region of the Timbavati Game Reserve.

Days 1–3 Cape Town

On the first day of your trip, you will fly out to Cape Town and transfer by road to The Clarendon Fresnaye. This property is situated in the peaceful suburb of Fresnaye, on the slopes of the magnificent Lion’s Head! Its communal areas include a sumptuous lounge and dining room, as well as gorgeous gardens containing a spacious swimming pool. Guest accommodation is super-stylish, featuring comfy king-size or twin beds, air-conditioning, a direct dial telephone, satellite television, a tea-and-coffee station, and a fully stocked mini-bar. Your rooms have lovely views of the Atlantic Ocean! The Clarendon Fresnaye is perfectly positioned for you to explore all the major attractions of Cape Town, such as the V&A Waterfront, Table Mountain, the exhilarating city centre, and the brilliant beaches of Clifton and Camps Bay.

Days 4–6 Sabi Sand Game Reserve

On Day 4, you will fly to Nelspruit (Kruger Mpumalanga), then transfer by road to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. You will stay at Idube Game Lodge, a great-value little property that is big on comfort and style! The communal lodge is a sturdy building, with brick walls – here you can enjoy spending time in the open lounge, watching the likes of nyala and warthogs passing by. Idube’s swimming pool is well placed for you to check out the local birds! The property has just nine en-suite chalets. Each is individually decorated and with all the amenities you could desire for a comfortable stay – such as air conditioning, a fan, tea- and coffee-making facilities, and a glamorous en-suite bathroom. Outside, every chalet has a private veranda and an outside shower too! Activities at Idube focus on game drives and bush walks. All Big Five roam the Reserve, together with numerous other species of predators and herbivores. Back at the Lodge, you can get a little closer to nature by popping into the property’s hide – this is accessed along a swing bridge, for a bit of a thrill! Village tours are also available.

Full-board accommodation, including three full meals daily, all teas and coffees, two game drives daily, and one bush walk per day.

Days 7–9 Timbavati Game Reserve

For the final part of your group trip, you will transfer by road to Simbavati River Lodge, within the Timbavati Game Reserve. This Lodge offers deluxe accommodation, close to the border with the Kruger National Park. Its communal areas are found in a wood-and-thatch structure and include a lovely lounge and dining deck with views over the Nhlaralumi river, as well as a spa and a swimming pool. Guest accommodation at Simbavati includes eight safari tents, all with twin beds and well-appointed en-suite facilities. They also have air conditioning, a ceiling fan, a tea-and-coffee station, a mini-bar, and a private veranda, from which you can admire river views! The Lodge offers day and night game drives, bush walks, and photographic safaris. As at Sabi Sand, all Big Five are in residence here! Other wildlife highlights include cheetah, zebra, wild dog, and the famous Timbavati white lion. There are lots of fabulous birds to look out for too!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation, including all standard meals, two game drives per day, a sundowner drink, interpretive bush walks with an armed field guide subject to availability, Emergency Medical Response and Emergency Medical Evacuation Insurance.

On Day 10, you will fly from Timbavati to Johannesburg to connect on to your international flight home.
