This trip is incredible value for money! It consists of a few nights in Cape Town, followed by a safari to both the Timbavati and the Sabi Sand Game Reserves. This means you can enjoy all the sights of the city, then some seriously good game viewing – making for a very memorable honeymoon!

We use three fantastic properties. First up, is Cape Town’s 2 Inn 1 Kensington. This is a stylish little guesthouse in a quiet area close to a lot of the city’s attractions, with wonderfully luxurious guest rooms. Next, you will stay at Simbavati Hilltop Lodge in Timbavati, which provides deluxe accommodation in the northern region of the Reserve. And lastly, there is the excellent Inyati Lodge, on the banks of the Sabie river and offering a great range of safari activities – the perfect grand finale to your honeymoon!

Days 1–4 Cape Town

On the first day of your honeymoon, you will fly out to Cape Town then transfer by road to 2 inn1 Kensington. This elegant boutique guesthouse, a fusion of Victorian and contemporary styles, is situated in Oranjezicht, a leafy suburb. It provides a peaceful base from which to explore the city’s major attractions, with its sumptuous lounge, sophisticated dining room, and spacious swimming pool. You can relax on the pool terrace or in the Jacuzzi, admiring views of Table Mountain under a clear blue sky. Most of the guest rooms at 2inn1 have their own terrace or balcony, which is perfect for enjoying a little time to yourselves. The beds are extra length and each room benefits from both air conditioning and underfloor heating. Other amenities include an iPod docking station, a safe, a fridge, tea- and coffee-making facilities, bathrobes, and slippers too. The décor features a few African influences and the en-suite bathrooms are fabulous, with wide walk-in showers. From 2inn1, it is just a short stroll or taxi ride to Kloof Street, Table Mountain, the V&A Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and much more besides! Staff members are happy to help you arrange all these excursions, as just one example of the first-rate service they provide.

Days 5–7 Timbavati Game Reserve

On Day 5, you will fly to Hoedspruit Airport and then transfer to the Timbavati Game Reserve for your stay at Simbavati Hilltop Lodge. This property boasts a dramatic location on top of a small kopje – the Nhlaralumi river flows below and the Drakensberg Mountains loom beyond. You can relax and enjoy these beautiful views from Simbavati’s comfortable lounge, circular bar, and deck over the river. The property also has a spa and an infinity pool! All guest suites are spaced well apart from each other to ensure ample privacy. Each has air conditioning, a ceiling fan, snug electric blankets for winter, a safe, a tea-and-coffee station, and a well-stocked mini-bar! Activities focus on checking out the wildlife in this amazing area, via game drives, bush walks, and photographic safaris too. You can look out for all Big Five species, in addition to cheetah, wild dog, giraffe, zebra, and birds such as herons, egrets, storks, and kites. The guiding is great and back at the Lodge the staff are friendly and welcoming. Although Simbavati feels pretty luxurious, it has a pleasant down-to-earth vibe.

Days 8–10 Sabi Sand Game Reserve

For the final part of your honeymoon, you will transfer by road to the Sabi Sand Game Reserve. Here you will stay at Inyati Lodge, which is situated within the Kruger Private Reserves. Inyati has a lovely location on the banks of the Sabi river! All buildings are constructed from timber, wood, and thatch. The communal areas include indoor and outdoor lounges and dining spaces, a traditional boma, a walk-in wine cellar, and a spacious swimming pool. Guest accommodation consists of 11 chalets. All have a thatched roof with an overhang, to create a shady seating spot. The beds are super-comfy and the en-suite bathrooms are very well appointed. Activities from Inyati include early morning and late afternoon game drives, bush walks, and fishing. As well as all Big Five, this area of Sabi Sands is home to the Secret Seven – aardvark, African wild cat, serval, large-spotted genet, civet, porcupine, and the charming pangolin. A stay at Inyati is ideal for seeing all the wildlife of the Sabi Sand area without the big price tag – and we guarantee you will have many happy memories from your time at this Lodge and at the others too.
