This family trip combines two thrilling locations – Camps Bay in Cape Town and the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve. Both provide loads of exciting experiences for all the family to enjoy, from hiking up Lion’s Head mountain to looking out for all the big cats on a game drive! The properties we use are very exclusive, and your safari is totally tailored to your family. Due to age restrictions at the Camps Bay property, the trip is best suited to families with children aged 8 years and older; though no age restrictions apply where the property is booked exclusively for a group.

In Cape Town, you will stay at Sea Five Boutique Hotel. This is a very luxurious beach house, only 300 metres from the beautiful beach of Camps Bay! The second part of the trip takes you to Morukuru, a collection of three villas in Madikwe Game Reserve. Here, you will enjoy four nights in Owner’s House, a private retreat with its very own swimming pool!

Days 1–4 Cape Town

On the first day of your family trip, you will fly to Cape Town International Airport and transfer by road to Sea Five Boutique Hotel. This property is close to Camps Bay and boasts breathtaking vistas of the beach and the Atlantic Ocean! Lion’s Head and the Twelve Apostles mountain range loom in the background, creating a majestic backdrop. The communal areas include gardens and a swimming pool. You will stay in the stunning Penthouse Suite, which has 360-degree views! With 110 square metres of floor space, this is a very roomy option for a family. The suite has one extra-length king-size bed and two single beds, and two bathrooms – both bathrooms have underfloor heating. Amenities include air conditioning, two satellite televisions, a private bar, and a private lounge/diner. The décor is a blend of South African and Mediterranean styles, so you really feel like you’re at the seaside! Sea Five is perfectly positioned for travellers to explore Camps Bay and the nearby mountains. You can also head into the city to check out such attractions as the V&A Waterfront with its Two Oceans Aquarium, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, and all the shops, cafés, and restaurants of the vibrant Mother City.

Days 5–8 Madikwe Game Reserve

Morukuru Owner's House heated pool and terrace

On Day 5 of your holiday, you will fly to Madikwe Game Reserve via Johannesburg, for four nights at Morukuru – Owner’s House. This property offers a private safari experience, allowing you to decide how you would like to spend your time! Owner’s House has a lovely location on the banks of the Marico river, in the shade of a mature morukuru tree. It was built by the owners to provide a private retreat and features two large en-suite bedrooms as well as a super-spacious open-plan living/dining area, a kitchen, and an immense deck incorporating outdoor dining spaces, an elevated sala, a fire pit, a bath, and a heated swimming pool! Amenities include air conditioning, television, DVD player, CD player, and Wi-Fi. The décor is colourful, with plenty of cosy features to make you feel at home. Owner’s House also comes with its own staff –butler, chef, nanny, and guide. Whenever you are ready, you can enjoy exploring Madikwe in your private game drive vehicle! The Reserve is rich in wildlife, including all Big Five and numerous other predators and herbivores. The birdlife is brilliant too!

On Day 9, you will fly to Johannesburg and connect on to your international flight home.
