Days 1–2 Maasai Mara National Reserve

The first two nights of this luxury trip are spent at Sala’s Camp, which boasts possibly the best location in the Maasai Mara National Reserve! It is situated in the far south, close to the Kenya–Tanzania border and where the Sand River meets the Keekerok River. So there are absolutely amazing opportunities to view the Great Migration, especially at its beginning! The camp is owned and operated by The Safari Collection, a company that prides itself on offering each guest unique experiences and a personalised stay. Sala’s has a lot of character and a lovely laidback atmosphere. The camp’s fabulous location results in some awesome game drives! In this relatively quiet region of the reserve, there are fewer crowds and vehicles. Sala’s is one of the first properties in the reserve to witness the arrival of the Great Migration herds as they hurtle into Kenya from the Serengeti from July to October every year.

Board basis and activities:
Sala’s Camp is booked on a fully inclusive basis, including all food, drinks, and shared safari activities. Days are designed by the guides when you arrive in the camp.

Your next stop is Mara Plains Camp. This property is situated in the centre of the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, along a bend on the Ntiakitiak River and surrounded by riverine forest. It is very close to the border with the Maasai Mara National Reserve, but as it is located within a conservancy it is able to offer a more private game-viewing experience, away from the crowds. And another bonus is that night drives are possible here! The standard of guiding at Mara Plains is sky high. All the guides are extremely knowledgeable and also very friendly, happy to answer any questions. Mara Plains is definitely one of the top-top camps in the Mara conservancies. Everything about it is seriously top notch, among the very best in Kenya. If you love luxury safari, you will love it here!
