This value safari includes two family-friendly properties – El Karama Lodge in Laikipia and Kicheche Mara Camp in the Mara North Conservancy. El Karama is located on a working cattle ranch, adjacent to the conservancies of Segera and Ol Jogi and north of the Ol Pejeta region. Youngsters of all ages are welcome and the accommodation includes two cottages that are fab for families! With a lovely lounge and dining area as well as a great swimming pool, the lodge is perfect for children. The owners offer a range of classic safari activities in addition to farm tours, day trips, and various things for youngsters to do. Kicheche Mara is a tented camp with a very authentic bushcamp feel! It is situated in the game-rich Mara North Conservancy, which borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve.

Days 1–3 Laikipia

You arrive in Nairobi, from where you will be transferred to Wilson Airport for your hour-and-a-half light-aircraft flight to Laikipia and El Karama Lodge. Upon arrival at the Lodge, you will be shown to your cottage and told about the various activities on offer. You will spend three nights here, enjoying game drives, local trips and activities as well as relaxing by the pool! The Lodge is run by Murray and Sophie Grant – they have children themselves, so youngsters are always made to feel very welcome.

Days 4–8 Maasai Mara

On Day 4 of your trip, you will fly from Laikipia to the Maasai Mara and Kicheche Mara. This is a traditional bushcamp offering classic safari activities. The guides and staff enjoy having children in camp and are happy to organise short walks and activities for them. Mara North is a great area for game viewing, boasting all of the Big Five as well as cheetah! Additionally, at the right time of year, your guide will take you into the Maasai Mara National Reserve to see the famous Great Migration. Kicheche Mara, like all the Kicheche camps, prides itself on its links with the local community and its Gold Level Eco-rating Certificate.
