Days 1–2 Chobe National Park

Tea on lower deck

On the first day of your group trip, you will fly out to Chobe National Park and transfer by road to Muchenje Safari Lodge. This property has a lovely location in the Chobe Forest Reserve, by far the quietest part of the area. There are wonderful views of the Chobe river and the floodplains all around. The communal lodge is a traditional wood-and-thatch structure, housing a stylish lounge, dining space, and bar. The property also has a great deck and a swimming pool! Guest accommodation consists of 11 thatched cottages, all with river views from a private veranda. Inside, each benefits from air conditioning, a fan, an electronic safe, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a bar fridge, and many other amenities to ensure you feel at home. Muchenje is a brilliant base for exploring the national park. You are sure to see plenty of wildlife on game drives, walking safaris, and boat trips – highlights include huge herds of elephant and buffalo, predators such as lion, leopard, and wild dog, and hundreds of species of bird!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation including all meals, local drinks, all game activities, park fees and government tax, return transfers to and from Kasane Airport, Wi-Fi, and a laundry service.

Days 3–5 Okavango Delta

new khwai 11

On Day 3, you will fly to the Okavango Delta! Here, you will stay at two properties. The first is Khwai Tented Camp, close to the Moremi Game Reserve. This is an eco-friendly camp, using solar power. Formerly a mobile camp, now it has a permanent position on one side of a lagoon that flows into the Khwai river. The communal lodge is constructed from wood and canvas, and raised above ground for spectacular views across the water! Inside, there is a comfortable lounge and an elegant dining room, both joining a deck with additional seating and dining spaces. Khwai Tented Camp has six Meru-style tents. All are spacious and well appointed, with a fan apiece, sumptuous bedding, and en-suite facilities including flush toilet and bucket shower. Activities on offer here are game drives, night drives, walking safaris, and bird watching. This part of the Delta is famous for its populations of predators! Lion, leopard, and cheetah are in residence, and wild dog are often spotted too. You can also look out for lots of herbivores, such as elephant, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and hippo, as well as over 500 species of bird!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation including all meals, all beverages bar premium imported spirits and champagne, two game viewing activities per day, national parks fees, transfers from nearest airstrip, and a laundry service.

Days 6–7 Okavango Delta

Pelo 2014 03 63

For the final part of your trip, you will fly to Wilderness Pelo. This property is a favourite at YZ! The name ‘Pelo’ means ‘heart’ – and the camp is situated on a heart-shaped island deep in the Okavango Delta, within the Jao Concession. It too is an eco-camp, with an adventurous feel. The pleasant lounge and dining area are set up in a large central tent, in the cool shade of palm, mahogany, and jackalberry trees. The communal facilities also include an outdoor boma, a viewing deck, and a sparkling swimming pool! Wilderness Pelo’s guest accommodation comprises just five guest tents, all featuring a covered front veranda, a comfy bedroom, and en-suite indoor and outdoor showers. Due to its location, the camp is unable to provide game drives, but in our view the quality of other activities certainly makes up for this. You can enjoy mokoro excursions, boating, fishing, and nature walks on the local islands! Wildlife sightings include lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, lechwe, impala, hippos, crocs, and birds galore. You might even see the mysterious and highly charismatic Pel’s fishing owl!

Board basis and activities:
Full-board accommodation including all meals, selection of house non-alcoholic and alcoholic drinks, all activities, and a laundry service.

On Day 8, you will transfer to Maun Airport and connect on to your international flight home.

  • Pelo Camp bedroom
    View Lodge
  • elephant safaris, okavango delta, botswana holidays
    View Park
