On Day 4, you will fly to Chobe National Park, for your stay at Chobe Elephant Camp! This is an excellent eco-style camp, with a lofty position on top of a rocky bluff – there are breathtaking views over the Chobe river and floodplains. Both the communal lodge and the guest chalets blend beautifully with the natural environment, as where possible recycled and reclaimed material have been used. Inside the lodge, there is a large open-plan lounge and dining area, complete with bar and reading corner. This flows out in to a traditional boma, while a neat pathway brings you to a viewing deck with swimming pool. This deck overlooks a busy waterhole! You can also enjoy great views from your private veranda, a feature of each guest chalet. Other highlights include a comfy double bed and en-suite facilities including indoor and outdoor showers. As far as activities are concerned, there’s a clue in the name of the camp – Chobe boasts the biggest elephant population in Africa! Now it’s time to fly to the Okavango Delta! Here, you will stay in two properties. The first is Sango Camp, on the outskirts of Khwai village and not far from the Moremi Game Reserve. Sango is named after a family who are among the original inhabitants of Khwai. It resembles a classic tented safari camp, with an open main area and six Meru-style guest tents. Positioned in the cool shade of trees, the main area contains a comfy lounge, dining space, and bar. Outside, there is a traditional boma, a viewing deck, and a plunge pool! The views are beautiful from camp, comprising floodplains, riverine forests, and dry woodlands, supporting a fine diversity of wildlife. You can enjoy all this from your private veranda too. Every guest tent also has mosquito nets, reading lights, a digital safe, and en-suite facilities including an open-air bucket shower! Due to its location between the Khwai river and the predator-rich Moremi Game Reserve, Sango provides some great game-viewing activities – day and night game drives, all-day game drives, and mokoro excursions. You can expect to see all Big Five species – lion, leopard, rhino, elephant, buffalo – as well as cheetah, hyena, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, antelopes, hippopotamus, crocodile, and many more! The bird count comes in at over 400 species, including the intriguing Pel’s fishing owl. Sango also offers a two-hour walk around Khwai village.
