The majority of our solo traveller safaris to Botswana are based on one of two factors. We design itineraries around lodges charging no (or only a small) single supplement or we suggest trips that have set-date departures, where solo travellers can join a group and thereby get great value.
As anyone who has travelled solo to Africa knows, one of the most crushing issues is the cost. Africa is an expensive destination anyway, and Botswana is probably the most expensive destination of all. So when you include an extra 50 per cent due to travelling solo, this often makes the cost prohibitive. We have noticed that some companies support the solo traveller, whereas others avoid dealing with them deliberately, preferring to focus on getting two people in a room (and subsequently making more money!) than looking after the solo traveller.
