  • Mokoro and motorboat trips, walks, fishing

Xugana Island Lodge is a classic Okavango camp with walking and water activities rather than game drives.

The lodge sits in shade on the fringe of the island with wonderful views of the Xugana Lagoon.

Xugana Island Lodge is located in the Shinde concession in the north of the Okavango Delta.

The lounge, bar and dining areas are set back under a cooling canopy of ebony and mangosteen trees. There is a large deck outside where guests can relax, as well as an alfresco dining area and a boma where they can eat.

Guests are accommodated in eight reed and thatch chalets with en suite bathrooms. They all have private decks where guests can sit out and enjoy beautiful views of the lagoon.

Activities include motorboat and mokoro trips to explore the delta, leisurely walks on the surrounding islands, birdwatching, and fishing for bream and tigerfish. Guests can also swim in the lodge's sparkling pool.

"Located deep into the water channels of the Okavango, Xugana is a rarity in the Okavango….a genuine water camp. I visited here in October, after two weeks of Botswana at its driest…it was like arriving at an island paradise! A great experience for two nights max, when combined with other big game ‘dry’ areas."
