ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES:
The main lodge has been built into the treeline – and as it is made of wood, it blends seamlessly into the natural setting. The lounge area contains lots of cushioned and colourful seating set around coffee tables, inviting guests to relax and get to know each other in this stunning part of the world. There are some books and games too. At the other end of the lodge, is the dining area, with a large table for communal meals. The bar is positioned in a corner. The structure is open fronted, so wherever you choose to sit, you can be sure of amazing views. There is also a viewing deck and a fire pit, the perfect place for getting together any time of day and sharing those safari stories!
Oddballs’ Camp’s guest accommodation consists of 15 tents, all connected to the main lodge by sandy pathways. All tents are dome shaped, comfy under canvas shelters and cool in the shade of trees. They are raised above ground level, on a deck that functions as a private veranda. Each standard unit contains twin beds, lighting, and storage space. The en-suite facilities are set up in an adjacent block and comprise toilet, washbasin, and shower. Two family units are created by two adjoining tents, so the family shares facilities. And there is a real treat in store for honeymooners, in the shape of the honeymoon hut! Constructed from reed and thatch, this little property simply oozes charm. There is a real classic safari feel to all the accommodation at Oddballs – perfect for travellers who wish to focus on the Delta’s wildlife!
The activities from Oddballs’ Camp are all about the wildlife, whether experienced on walking safari or by gliding quietly over the water in a mokoro, a dug-out canoe. The Okavango Delta is chock-full of animals, its wildlife-rich floodplains, papyrus swamps, reed beds and channels teeming with all sorts of species! The chance of spotting big cats such as lion, leopard and cheetah is pretty high, while a whole host of herbivores can be sighted too – wildebeest, zebra, kudu, impala, reedbuck, waterbuck, warthog, to provide a small selection. Baboon swing from the trees, while crocs and hippos swim in the waters. The birdlife is seriously impressive!
Both walking and mokoro trips are enjoyed with the guide allocated to you at the very beginning of your stay – this way, guests can be sure of getting the best of the Delta, as the guide will bring you something new and exciting every single day. Full-day picnics are available too! And if you are here for at least four nights, you are eligible to take part in a truly thrilling camping trail.
