OVERVIEW:
Mma Dinare is sister camp to Rra Dinare, and both properties are owned and operated by Kwanda Safaris, a company that runs several camps and lodges across the Okavango Delta, the Makgadikgadi Pan, and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve. Accommodation is booked on a full-board basis, including all meals, a selection of alcoholic and soft drinks, scheduled activities, and a laundry service. Children aged 6–11 years incur a reduced rate – please contact a member of the YZ team for details.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
The camp is situated in the south-east of the Delta, within the Santawani Concession and next to the wildlife-rich Moremi Game Reserve. It’s accessed via 45 minutes’ game drive transfer from the nearest airstrip, which is 20 minutes’ flight from Maun and 1 hour 20 minutes’ flight from Kasane.
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT MMA DINARE:
There are nine canvas tents for guest use, including one family tent. All are spacious, featuring a lounge area, well-appointed en-suite facilities including outdoor shower, and a nicely secluded veranda with beautiful views over the Gomoti river. The total floor space of each standard tent is 60 square metres, excluding the deck.
Mma Dinare’s communal space is housed in an open-sided timber-and-thatch building. It includes a comfortable lounge flowing out onto a deck, a well-stocked bar, and a smart dining room. Mma Dinare has a curio shop too, and a swimming pool.
ACTIVITIES AT MMA DINARE:
Mma Dinare offers the same range of activities as Rra Dinare, centred on enjoying sightings of the Santawani Concession’s wildlife.
- The concession covers in excess of 25,000 hectares, incorporating mopane woodland, seasonal water frontage, and riverine forest. Species in residence include all the Big Four – lion, leopard, elephant, and buffalo! There are lots of smaller predators and herbivores too, such as cheetah, hyena, wild dog, giraffe, wildebeest, zebra, an exciting variety of antelopes, and hippos.
- Birdlife abounds – keen birders can scan the skies and streams for fish eagles, slaty egret, pygmy goose, southern carmine bee-eater, and the intriguing Pel’s fishing owl.
- Game drives take place during the day and the night, always in the company of experienced and knowledgeable guides. As at Rra Dinare, the availability of walking safaris and mokoro excursions depends on water levels, so please contact a member of our team to discuss the best times to visit the concession.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
