When To Visit Okavango Delta:

“Overlooking two channels of the Okavango, Delta Camp has a beautiful location in the heart of the Delta. However, this property only offers boating and walking safaris, and we do not recommend the walks as they are not escorted by anyone with a firearm. As a result, we use it rarely. A shame, really, as it’s a very nice location.”

OVERVIEW:

Delta Camp is particularly suitable for travellers who are looking for a rustic experience at a very good price.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Delta Camp is situated on a small island in the heart of the Okavango Delta

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT DELTA CAMP:

The main camp is elevated to give spectacular views of the surrounding bush, swamps and floodplains. It has been built to blend in this with the landscape around it, using existing trees, locally grown reed and grass, and canvas where necessary. Accommodation is in chalets carefully positioned to benefit from views of the bush and floodplains. Each has an ensuite bathroom with hot and cold running water, and a shower. Furniture is made by local craftsmen using local materials where possible. Electricity is solar powered.

*Please be aware that we are unable to book this property for families with young children under the age of 6 years.*

ACTIVITIES AT DELTA CAMP:

The area is home to a large variety of wildlife.

  • Elephant are occasional visitors, while lion, leopard, hippo, and Cape hunting dog have all been seen from the deck. Activities are based around walking safaris and trips into Moremi Game Reserve. However, please note, we do not recommend that any of our travellers goes on a walking activity from this camp, as walks are not led or escorted by anyone carrying a firearm, and there is big game in the area.
  • Guests have a private guide assigned to them on arrival who looks after them throughout their stay, exploring the waterways in a mokoro (dug-out canoe) and taking them on bush walks on some of the islands.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
