"The game here is excellent from June to October, but I would be careful of this property outside the peak months – the density of game viewing drops significantly. Apart from that, this is a nice but not brilliant camp whose competition sees us use it rarely."

OVERVIEW:

We reckon Camp Linyanti has a lot going for it, both for travellers new to the area and for those returning for another look. If you like messing around on the river, you will love the boat trips now available! A classic and classy little camp.

ACCESS & LOCATION:

Camp Linyanti is situated in the north-west region of Chobe National Park, nestling within riverine forests and overlooking the expansive waters of the Linyanti. The Camp is accessible by road from Saile airstrip. The 90-minute journey makes for an excellent game drive, the ideal introduction to your safari holiday!

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT CAMP LINYANTI:

The communal areas are found in a wood-and-canvas lodge – this is raised above ground level to guarantee great views of the lovely Linyanti Waterfront. The lounge has stripy-cushioned chairs and sofas around an elegant coffee table stacked with reading material, while the dining area extends like a deck towards the water – both spaces are fab for relaxing and getting to know your fellow travellers. The bar is good for unwinding too! All areas have a very authentic vibe, due to the predominance of wood – there are sleek floorboards, beautifully finished supporting pillars, and some very well crafted furniture. Other classic safari touches include a few artworks and artefacts on the canvas walls. Just outside the lodge is the fire pit, another great spot for socialising as well as taking in those ravishing river views!

Guest accommodation at Camp Linyanti comprises just five rondavel tents. A rondavel is a circular structure with a conical roof made of thatch – this is a very traditional choice and it really adds to the property’s authentic flavour! Sandy paths link the rondavels to the communal lodge. In common with the main building, each rondavel is raised above the ground. A private veranda provides superb views of the Waterfront. Guests enter through a zip door to find a king-size bed or twin beds, flanked by bedside tables. Each rondavel also contains an air conditioning unit, lighting, and storage space for your belongings. The en-suite facilities are situated through another zip door – they consist of flush toilet, washbasin, bathtub with shower attachment, and private outside shower!

ACTIVITIES AT CAMP LINYANTI:

Camp Linyanti is well placed to offer some very exciting activities.

  • Game drives are available each morning and every afternoon. During the dry season they focus on the floodplains, while throughout the rainy months they explore the pans. The vast expanses of water, wooded banks and mopane forests support an exciting assortment of wildlife – lion and leopard for big cat fans, plus elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, wild dog, and many more. You might even see baboon!
  • Recently the Camp has started to offer boat safaris, using its 6m Swamp Cruiser. Equipped with a quiet engine, the Cruiser is able to glide stealthily through the lagoons, home to plenteous hippos. This is also a fantastic opportunity to do some brilliant birding! The boat goes out twice daily – and we thoroughly recommend taking at least one trip.

*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
