Background information
Wilderness Safaris is a prestigious luxury eco-tourism company that was established in 1983. It operates camps and safaris in Botswana, Congo, Kenya, Namibia, Malawi, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe and the Seychelles. Each group of the 70 lodges and camps has its own identity, feel and character to fit the area it is in and the wildlife that inhabits it.
Wilderness Safaris aims at sustainable conservation through responsible tourism. They provide luxury safari experiences while helping to protect Africa's wildlife heritage, and sharing the benefits of tourism with the local communities of the camps in which they operate. Of the 2,800 staff who work for them, 85% come from neighbouring communities.
