OVERVIEW:
Ongava Tented is probably our favourite camp in the Ongava Reserve, mainly because of its water hole and the fact that it is significantly more economical than the nearby super-luxurious Little Ongava.
ACCESS & LOCATION:
This classic tented camp has a superb location looking directly out over an active waterhole, set in the Ongava Game Reserve – it is one of the most active camps in terms of game viewing that we know – it is common to share dinners with rhino here!
ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT ONGAVA TENTED CAMP:
The 10 tented rooms are luxurious and are set out each side of the communal area, with each having a view of the waterhole. Some have restricted views so it is best to book early to avoid disappointment. The camp has a small pool that is particularly welcome in the hotter months at the end of the year.
ACTIVITIES AT ONGAVA TENTED CAMP:
The Ongava Game Reserve is adjacent to the southern border of Namibia’s Etosha National Park, so guests have the option of game driving in the busier Etosha National Park, or spending time in the privacy of the Ongava Reserve. Ongava itself is primarily a rhino reserve, with the three camps here offering some of the best and potentially up-close rhino-viewing anywhere in Africa. Walking safaris are encouraged.
*This property is unfenced and located in a wildlife area, so large and potentially dangerous animals do pass through. If you opt to stay here, always be alert when walking around the camp and request for a member of staff to escort you if you have any concerns. Any guest is escorted after dark as a matter of course.
