"A small and good-value property located in a buzzy part of Diani, right on the beach. It is a charming boutique hotel with a really personal feel."

OVERVIEW:

This is a fantastic beach property, brilliant for couples and families alike. Highly recommended by YZ! The property was set up by Riccardo and Valentina, who fell in love with the South Coast at first sight. Today the romantic location continues to appeal to couples and honeymooners – and the activities are fantastic for families too!

ACCESS & LOCATION:

The resort is situated on Kenya’s South Coast and close to Mombasa International Airport. The resort is right on the coast, overlooking a blue lagoon, its main lodge and guest accommodation surrounded by tall palm trees.

ACCOMMODATION & FACILITIES AT WATERLOVERS BEACH RESORT:

The buildings are constructed from local wood, stone and thatch and the interiors combine Sardinian and Caribbean styles to create a fusion that the owners term ‘Afro-chic’! The lodge’s lounge area contains plenty of comfortable seating, with lovely views of the beach. The same views are visible from the restaurant, ‘Tides’, which defines laidback chic with its beautifully laid separate tables and smart upright chairs. The resort’s bar is perfect for relaxing and getting to know your fellow guests – and there are additional areas outside the lodge for sitting and enjoying a drink or few! The turtle-shaped infinity pool is ideal for chilling out between activities – and guests who enjoy a spot of pampering will relish the Kola Spa, set in the resort’s peaceful gardens. Finally, the on-site boutique offers retail therapy away from the busy town and sells a gorgeous range of local items, such as clothing, arts and crafts, and accessories.

WaterLovers’ guest accommodation is dotted around the main areas and consists of eight spacious suites, the Ocean Penthouse Apartment, and a self-contained villa featuring fully furnished kitchen, dining area, and, if requested, a private chef! All suites have a private veranda overlooking the ocean, while the penthouse apartment and the private villa boast spectacular views of Diani Beach. The suites are available as doubles or triples, while the penthouse has three doubles and one king, and the villa has two doubles and two kings – all beds are comfy and spacious! The rooms are fully air conditioned and also contain a fan, mosquito nets, a security box, an audio station for iPod, iPhone and MP3, plus complimentary Wi-Fi and SIM cards. The en-suites are very well appointed, with flush toilet, twin washbasins and a large shower!

*For families with children under the age of 6 years, we always request a ground floor room or a room without a balcony for safety reasons.*

ACTIVITIES AT WATERLOVERS BEACH RESORT:

As the resort is located on the coast, it is able to offer an excellent assortment of beach activities! These include kitesurfing, windsurfing, diving and fishing. WaterLovers has its very own beach house, so all these watersports are easy to arrange. You can even rent bikes and cycle along the 25km shore! Loads of excursions are possible too. Keen golfers can pop down the road to the Leisure Lodge Golf Club, to enjoy its 18-hole course amid palm trees, cashew nut trees, and a beautiful lake.

Trips on a dhow (an African sailboat) transport guests to Wasini Island and Kiste Marine Park, to see some beautiful coral gardens and 250 species of marine life such as delightful dolphins! Another wildlife experience well worth fitting in to your itinerary is visiting the Colobus Trust – and staff are happy to help organise excursions to any of the main safari areas, such as Shimba Hills Reserve, Tsavo, Amboseli and the Maasai Mara. Closer to the lodge, it is interesting to check out Mombasa old town, to walk down the traditional streets and perhaps stop off at the fruit and vegetable markets or treat yourselves to dinner at the Tamarind Restaurant, the best seafood restaurant in Africa!
