When To Visit Zambia:

The most alluring of all of Africa’s cats is the elusive leopard. Zambia’s South Luangwa is one of the top places in Africa to view this magnificent beast.

Many clients spend their first few safaris trying to get good sightings of leopard. There are numerous parks where you have a good chance of seeing them – Tanzania’s Serengeti and Ruaha national parks, Botswana’s Okavango and Moremi reserves, and South Africa’s Kruger. However, none of these can assure a sighting.

We are often asked, where is the best place to view leopard? In our opinion, Zambia’s South Luangwa National Park is by far the best option. We can almost guarantee that you will see leopard here.

Located just over an hour’s flight north of Zambia’s capital, Lusaka, South Luangwa is one of Africa’s finest wildlife areas. With a fraction of the visitors that visit Africa’s other famous parks, the Luangwa guarantees an exclusive safari experience from quality camps that focus on game viewing above all else.

There is no better place for walking safari, and the quality of guiding is as good as you will find anywhere. In summary, Luangwa has all the ingredients that make a world-class safari park, as well as offering very good value and a private game-viewing experience.

However, it is the leopard viewing that steals the show for us. One of the main reasons is the fact that the park allows night safaris, an essential activity to maximise the chance of seeing these cats. On our own trips to the valley, and hearing our clients speak of their experiences, nowhere else gets close to Luangwa – it is the best place in Africa to view leopard.
